Our prize draw winners revealed!

Nichola, from Barry in South Wales

I’m 42, married to Andrew who is 39. We live in a lovely neighbourhood in Barry, close to parks and the beach. We bought the house around 5 years ago when we were expecting our eldest, Arya, and since then we’ve also welcomed our youngest, Ayla. Andrew works full-time as a Business Analyst, and I run my own business.

How did you first hear about us?

I saw a post about Accelerate My Mortgage on Facebook and thought it was such an excellent and innovative idea! I immediately shared it with all my friends and community groups.

How do you use the service?

I’ve used cashback websites for years, but now I only use Accelerate My Mortgage. The savings are comparable or better, and I love having the ability to pay my mortgage off faster and saving even more money by reducing the interest paid over time.

What does having a mortgage-free month mean to you?

2020 has been tough for everyone. I was made redundant in April and started my own business shortly after. Andrew has been the sole breadwinner for much of this year and we’ve made some lifestyle changes because of this, including cutting down on what we’d usually spend on Christmas presents for our girls. This prize couldn’t have come at a better time and it will make a world of difference to us at this time of year.

Laura, from Fife in Scotland

I’m a 35 year old mum and wife, with two daughters aged 7 & 2. We’re surrounded by beautiful beaches and lots of golf courses! I work part-time as a Civil Servant for the Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service. My husband and I bought our first home in 2006, and we bought our ‘forever home’ 6 years ago.

I follow the Debt Free Community on Instagram and I saw it being shared through that platform.

How do you use the service

What does having a mortgage-free month mean to you?

It’s a huge amount to win, and it gets us that bit closer to our goal of becoming mortgage-free by the age of 50 and having the security of owning our home outright.
